THE KOINOS PROJECT is an online educational platform building community through studying community. It is a place for seekers dissatisfied with their formal schooling searching for something more—for purpose and meaning, for real culture and unmediated connections, for fellowship and friendship, for their place in the cosmos and in history—for a true mythos. It is a meeting of minds and mutual longing where makers, lovers, and doers can connect and inspire one another.
The word koinos is Greek for “common, shared, or universal.” We seek to uncover and cultivate that which we share—by nature and by heritage—to help generate a new world together. This cannot be created ex nihilo, but must draw on both the perennial wisdom of our tradition and that which we know in our bones. We like to describe this activity as “intentionally organic”: meaning both organic on purpose, but also acting with intention in an organic way—an unprogrammatic program that does not preach, teach, direct, or command, but only attends and reveals.
The Koinos shall be what schooling was once thought to be: scholē, leisured learning that offers both recreation and re-creation—a renewal at the deepest level of our beings.
For the intellectually curious, but educatedly stunted
The Koinos, or commons, will consist of salon discussions, lectures, seminars, and message boards that will bring together all the disparate offerings spread across the internet to show how they are interrelated in larger webs of meaning. Access to the platform will be through a monthly subscription fee that will support bringing in speakers and special guests who have already begun the much-needed work of rebuilding the future.
Free subscribers can look forward to weekly musings on culture and nature through writings, podcasts, videos and more. Paid subscribers will be given keys to the castle —full access to a world withheld by our constricted and constricting educational system.
Be part of something bigger than yourself
While this project begins in the digital realm, the ultimate goal is to transform thought into action—connecting and building in the real world. As our numbers and reach grow, we will begin organizing live events and meetups exclusive to paid subscribers who help support our mission.
The possibilities are endless as to how this can be put into action, and will only be restricted by our imaginations. The world is changing—let us create this new world together.
